Founder of a New Northwest Award
Press
Release, Portland, Ore.
Sustainable
Northwest has named Bob Anderson, CEO of AJ's Auto Repair Shop in Salem,
as one of this year's recipients of the Founders of a New Northwest award.
As
CEO of AJ's Auto Repair, Mr. Anderson has made significant efforts to
protect his employees and the environment by eliminating toxic chemicals
in the workplace, implementing pollution prevention practices, and safely
managing hazardous wastes. In so doing, AJ's Auto Repair Shop has
developed a uniquely environmental approach to car repair. "The staff
at AJ's embraces the philosophy that environmental sustainability is
really everyone's responsibility, and that it is incumbent upon business
as well as government to help lead the way," Anderson says.
Sustainable
Northwest, based in Portland, Oregon, promotes environmentally compatible
economic development in the Pacific Northwest. Sustainable Northwest
created the Founders of a New Northwest program in 1997 to
recognize individuals, businesses and communities working to reconcile
individual well-being, community vitality, economic progress and environmental
health.
